Complete Control

Customise heat and speed settings

We have given the user complete control of the extrusion process by including adjustable temperature as well as speed. Rather than forcing our own preferred settings on the user we decided to bring back the excitement of setting your own preferences for each thermoplastic you extrude.

Of course we are not simply leaving you to figure it all out for yourself. Every DNA extruder will be accompanied by an operations manual outlining specific temperature and speed settings for individual polymers, among other things.

Fast Extrusion

Extrude filament quickly and reliably

During development of the DNA extruder we wanted to address the issue of slow extrusion speeds that most current extruders face. To solve this, we used ABS materials for testing and setting our operational goals and achieved an impressive extrusion speed of 10ft/min and 1kg/hr. of filament.

We used ABS for benchmarking due to the fact that it is a denser and more difficult material to extrude, requiring more heat and pressure compared to a thinner material like PLA. It is a standard practice by most extruder manufacturers to use PLA during development and testing. While most other extruders can barely achieve speeds of above 6ft/min with PLA, we have made sure that the DNA extruder will be capable of much faster speeds with a denser material.

Users can expect to reach a consistent extrusion speed of 10ft/min with ABS and higher than that with PLA, provided there is adequate cooling.

Innovative Extrusion Screw

Higher pressure, faster extrusion

Specifically for this product we designed a new and innovative thermoplastic extrusion screw, which allowed us to reduce the overall size of the machine and provide users with a machine capable of extruding a higher quality filament. The use of the thermoplastic extrusion screw helps to promote higher pumping pressure for extraction of water vapor and air from the filament, and improves mechanical operation through a direct connection to the motor.

Each extrusion screw is CNC machined from Chro-Molly billet and tested by a professional before it is delivered to us for further testing and installation.

Large Capacity

Size does matter

We have equipped DNA with a large built-in hopper to accommodate a worry-free production run. With a total volume of 1300ml l it is big enough to fit 1kg of pellets. A full hopper load will provide you with over a standard roll of filament.

The hopper was tested and designed with specifically calculated wall angles, which allows for maximum volume and assistance-free flow.
